Pause

Typing a journal entry never felt honest to me. I would polish sentences instead of saying the thing. Talking is different: my voice says it before I can edit it. So I built Pause around that one idea and cut everything that got in the way of pressing record.

   The dictation pipeline is the product. Spoken thoughts are full of ums, half starts, and repeats. Pause transcribes the recording, then runs an AI cleanup pass that keeps your meaning and your phrasing but drops the filler. Getting that pass right took more iterations than any screen.

   Tuning the cleanup prompt. Early versions rewrote too much. The entry came back grammatical and dead, like a stranger summarised your day. I kept tightening the instruction until the output read as you, on a clear-headed day.

   Five modes, one mechanic. Daily Spark, Gratitude, Deep Dive, Musings, and Vent are all the same loop: one good question, then record. A blank page is scary. One question is an invitation.

   One shipping rule. Every proposed feature had to make pressing record easier, or it did not ship. That rule killed more ideas than any roadmap review.

Rewrite the transcript as a journal entry.
- Keep the speaker's words and rhythm wherever possible.
- Remove filler, false starts, and repeated phrases.
- Do not summarise. Do not add insight they didn't say.
- It should read like them, on a clear-headed day.

The AI layer is invisible when it works. Nobody praises the cleanup pass; they just come back to a journal they actually reread. Spend your iterations where the user never looks.
